Anneliese Dodds, MP for Oxford East, has “cut the ribbon” to mark the official opening of Headington Post Office, under the service of a highly experienced postmaster, Dipesh Modha.
Headington Post Office has re-opened at a new location at Art Café, 12 Windmill Road, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BX. This is inside an exciting new café with a store selling art materials, print services and stationery.
This has restored post office services to Headington. The previous branch shut in January as the Co-op store, where the branch had been based, closed at 152 London Road, Oxford, OX3 9ED for redevelopment of the site.
Dipesh has been a postmaster for Edgware Road Post Office in London for 10 years. He is excited to have taken on Headington Post Office in Oxford, a city which he has long loved to visit.
Headington Postmaster, Dipesh Modha, said: “People are really pleased that Headington Post Office has re-opened as they have missed having a branch on their doorstep.
“We’re getting great feedback. I really care about providing excellent customer service and the people that are in my team I chose if they are like minded.
“I’ve been busy getting to know my customers, to get their feedback and spreading the word with residents and businesses in the area to raise awareness that people can once again do their everyday banking and sending and collecting parcels in Headington and so much more."
Other services include passports, driving licence and vehicle tax renewal.
The opening hours will be Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm. This will provide 51 hours of service per week.
The new branch will be located approximately 280 metres from the previous location. St Leonards Road Car Park pay & display is available 120 meters away on St Leonards Road.
The new premises will have a wide door and a ramp at the entrance. Internally, there will be a hearing loop and space for a wheelchair.
