Post Office statement on BBC documentary

Commenting on the BBC documentary ‘Surviving the Post Office’ which airs on BBC 1 on 22 July 2024, a Post Office spokesperson, said:

“We are truly sorry for the suffering caused to so many people by Post Office’s past actions. We continue to learn from our mistakes and are committed to transforming today’s Post Office, rebuilding trust, and moving forward for our current postmasters and the 10 million customers who rely on us each week. Without our postmasters, there is no Post Office.

“We recognise that victims of the scandal and their families cannot move on until full redress has been paid and both Post Office and Government are committed to doing so as quickly as possible.

“Through the Inquiry and restorative justice meetings we have heard firsthand the severity of the impacts on postmasters’ lives – including their mental and physical health.

“We will continue to do all we can to get financial redress to those affected as quickly as possible and hope that the findings of the independent Inquiry will bring some degree of closure for all of those impacted."
