Cash deposits and withdrawals total £3.3 billion at Post Offices
New figures released today (24 March) reveal that Post Offices handled £3.3 billion in February.
January and February are traditionally quieter months for cash transactions at Post Offices following the Christmas high and February being a short month.
In February, personal cash deposits totalled £1.43 billion, down 8.9% month-on-month (£1.57 billion, January 2025) but up 11% year-on-year (£1.28 billion, February 2024). The 11% increase comes despite February 2024 being a leap year.
In February, business cash deposits totalled £1.06 billion, down 3.8% month-on-month (£1.11 billion, January 2025) and down 0.2% year-on-year (£1.06 billion, February 2024).
In February personal cash withdrawals totalled £820 million, down 0.9% month-on-month (£828 million, January 2025) and up 1.7% year-on-year (£806 million, February 2024).
Ross Borkett, Post Office Banking Director, said:
“Being able to access and budget with cash remains vital for millions of people every day. the annual increase in February’s personal cash deposit figures underscores the importance of having somewhere convenient and secure to deposit cash for the millions of people who continue to use and rely on it.”

Banking Hubs
As at 19 March 2025, 140 hubs have been opened in partnership between Cash Access UK and the Post Office. 224 Banking Hubs have now been announced by LINK with further openings planned for later this year.
