Press release

One month until Post Office Process Review closure, with postmasters urged to submit requests before 30 September

  • Now one month left to submit requests to the Post Office Process Review
  • Current and former postmasters urged to submit requests
  • Help and support is available from a dedicated team
  • All requests must be received before the deadline of 11.59pm on 30 September

Current and former postmasters are being urged to submit requests to the Post Office Process Review (PPR) with one month to go before the deadline on 30 September 2026.

The Post Office Process Review was established following the Common Issues Judgment in 2019 to provide financial redress to current and former postmasters who experienced financial loss as a result of products, policies or processes that were not designed or delivered appropriately. It is not for losses caused by previous versions of the Horizon systems.

Post Office is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been impacted to submit a request form before the deadline, even if they are unsure of the full extent of any losses.

Request forms can be submitted via an online form, by email or post and must be received by Post Office by 11.59pm on 30 September 2026.

Post Office is raising awareness of the Post Office Process Review closure deadline so as many eligible people as possible can receive financial redress. The organisation has sent out letters to those who may be eligible to encourage them to apply. Request forms are still welcomed even from those who have not received a contact letter.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We want to ensure that every postmaster who may have been financially impacted by the issues covered by the Post Office Process Review has the opportunity to come forward and have their request considered.

"With just one month remaining before the deadline, we encourage anyone who believes they may have been affected to submit a request form as soon as possible. Our team is available to offer support, and postmaster representative groups are on hand too if you would prefer to speak with them.”

Applications can also be submitted on behalf of those who are ill, unable to do so themselves, or who have died, subject to certain criteria.

Help and support is available for those with further questions via phone and email from a dedicated claimant support team.

Restorative justice

In addition to paying financial redress, Post Office is committed to supporting those impacted by the Horizon IT Scandal through a meaningful restorative justice programme.

The Restorative Justice Council launched the Horizon Project in September 2025, a restorative justice programme for people affected by the Horizon IT Scandal. The project is jointly commissioned and funded by Post Office, Fujitsu and the Department for Business and Trade, but the Restorative Justice Council is an independent organisation with over 25 years of experience.

Restorative justice is separate to financial redress and seeks to address the emotional impact of the scandal to facilitate healing and accountability. It is an entirely voluntary process and the Restorative Justice Council can provide further information and support for anyone who is interested in taking part in the Horizon Project.
