Street Performers in Edinburgh Celebrate Sundays with the Post Office
Dozens of street performers in London, Edinburgh and across the UK, took to the streets this weekend to help the Post Office celebrate its Sunday openings by performing the Commodores’ smash hit Easy (like Sunday Morning).
42-year-old performer Jules Maxine from Edinburgh, who took part in the campaign, said: “What is not to love about Sundays, my husband and I used to run a hotel and Sunday was our only day off so it’s always been a family day.
“I love to sing and perform so I was excited to get involved in this, I don’t expect anyone will sing the song as well as Lionel but it’s fun to give it a go!”
Footage of dozens of performances is being collated into a video montage which will go live on the Post Office’s YouTube channel later this week.
A teaser version can be seen now here.
If you think you can do better, the Post Office is inviting you to video your version of Easy (like Sunday Morning) and share how you #LoveSundays with Twitter handle @PostOffice.
Post Office spokesperson Peter Markey said: “People across the UK treasure their Sundays and we’re delighted that they have enjoyed how we’ve celebrated that. The street performers have been fantastic and such a huge range of acts took part, including some up-and-coming stars.
“We really wanted to celebrate this exciting time at the Post Office with as many people as possible, telling everyone that popping into a branch on a Sunday is in fact Easy. We’re changing the way we do business and becoming more convenient to help everyone in the UK love Sundays too.”
The Post Office’s newly extended opening hours make getting the important things in life done even easier. Over 1,600 branches are now open on a Sunday, and within a 15-minute drive of most people in the UK. To find a branch open on Sunday near you, visit postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder
