3-in-1 Holiday Money Mobile App Launched

- Tourists can get travel cash ‘on the go’ and calculate holiday prices with new Mobile App
- Prices for Holiday Costs Barometer tourist staples available for 20 top destinations

The launch of the Post Office Travel Essentials Mobile App means UK holidaymakers now have a quick and easy way to access exchange rates while on the move, whether they’re online or offline.

The new app also allows customers to buy currency using their mobile phone as well as check the value of their holiday money and see how far it will stretch on typical tourist staples for the country they are visiting. The Mobile App is available to download free of charge on the App Store or at Google Play.

As with existing online Post Office currency transactions, the minimum amount that can be purchased using the Mobile App is £400.  This is available in over 70 currencies and uses the live exchange rate at the time of transaction.  Currency ordered will be delivered next day to a specified branch or to the purchaser’s home address.

In addition, based on either the exchange rate they received or the current rate of exchange, holidaymakers can use the Mobile App’s currency converter to calculate costs so they understand the value of foreign currency purchases they make while on holiday.

In tandem with this, the Travel Essentials Mobile App provides unique access to Post Office Travel Money’s Holiday Costs Barometer prices for tourist staples in 20 top destinations.  These include key resorts in eurozone destinations as well as in the USA, Egypt and Dubai.  Average prices for items including meals and drinks can be called up on the app in order to give users an indication of what they should expect to pay in popular resorts overseas.

Andrew Brown, Post Office Travel Money said: “The Travel Essentials Mobile App has been designed to be a really flexible tool for holidaymakers – providing them with the means to buy their travel cash and offering easy access to information on currency values and tourist prices without incurring roaming charges.”

The Mobile App also offers users quick and easy access to Travel Insurance packages via the Post Office call centre or website and gives policy holders the means to make a claim.
